FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY/TAX DEDUCTION LETTERS

Give Kenya Hope is an active ministry of Hope, International out of Abingdon, MD 21009 which holds our 501 (c) (3). Our EIN with the state of Iowa is 52-1930152. We keep strict financial records and every donor is provided with a letter detailing their tax deductible donations every January for the prior year. We have annual audits done through Gad Wekesa Associates in Kenya.

We have no paid employees. All of our staff members in Kenya are volunteers but we do occasionally give them small tokens of our appreciation. Our two biggest expenditures are for food and educational expenses for our high school students. Food has run between $250 and $300 per day in 2024. We had 118 students in various boarding schools throughout Kenya in 2024 and will have the same number in 2025. Tuition, room and board, school supplies, uniforms, travel and personal items for our students have been right at $1000 per student per year.

Expenditures for improvements to our facilities are raised by special projects. We have been able to expand our facilities every year since 2018. We are in the process of adding a grade to our school so that we will be able to teach our children through the ninth grade. To do so, we are building another classroom as well as a science labratory. All of our students must pass strict testing requirements through the Kenya Ministry of Education. We have been very proud of our students as they have all done very well when they have gone on to boarding school.

We will be providing a detailed summary of donations and expenditures for 2024 on this site after the year comes to an end.
